We work to heal communities around the world, and one of the ways we do this is through Facing Faitha community-based initiative to promote peace and understanding across barriers of faith & culture.

On Tuesday 26th April, a special Roundtable discussion was held in Blackburn through a partnership between the Awareness Foundation and the Diocese of Blackburn, Christian Muslim Encounters and Lancashire Council of Mosques. The topic of the discussion was, 'Can I engage with other faiths without compromising my own?'  The discussion was described by one participant as "honest yet respectful."  The discussion was frank and open, far from political correctness and sheer politeness! Challenging observations were shared around the table, and the group focussed on finding solutions that the whole community could embrace, and they recognised the need to reach those on the fringes of faith who are less willing to engage with others.

Those present agreed that their meeting was just the start of a long process to build strong links between faith communities in Lancashire.

We should like to thank The Revd Canon Ed Saville, the Lead Officer for Social Responsibility for the Diocese of Blackburn, for coordinating the project.
