Congratulations to Geoff Streit, pictured above, who ran the 2016 London Marathon to raise funds for our work. We are delighted to announce that Geoff completed the course in an amazing 3 hours, 3 minutes and 9 seconds. Not only that, but the total he has raised for our work, with Gift Aid, exceeds £1,800!
We should like to thank Geoff on behalf of everyone at the Awareness Foundation, staff, Trustees and volunteers, plus all of the people around the world who benefit from our work.
Geoff is an avid runner who moved to London in 2012 from Houston, Texas for a work assignment. Geoff is married and has 3 children, 2 of whom were born in London. Geoff started running at a young age and raced competitively in high school and college in the United States. In his last year of high school, Geoff was a state champion in the 3200 meter run and has a PB in the mile of 4:17 - nearly as fast as Sir Roger Bannister! He has completed 7 marathons including the Houston, Boston and Paris marathons with a personal best of 2 hours and 47 minutes. Geoff and his family attend London Community Church in northwest London where they first heard about the Awareness foundation and the work that it does. He enjoys travelling, reading and eating chocolate in his spare time. He will be competing in the London Marathon in April and is aiming to finish another marathon in less than 3 hours!
"Greetings and thank you for your generous support for the Awareness Foundation and my marathon today. My training has been going well and I've been braving the wind and rain of London to get my training in for the marathon. I'm running between 50 and 60 miles a week and my training has been going well and I'll have been easing up over the last couple of weeks before the race.
